Vice President Pence was the highest-ranking elected official to ever address the march, which was celebrating its 44th year. The speakers talked about their support for anti-abortion legislation, and promised that lawmakers in the 115th Congress and the Trump administration were opposed to abortion, and to Planned Parenthood, the national organization of health clinics. Afterward, marchers began making their way toward Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court.
